Smile- By remaining unaffected by their negativity they are less likely to complain to you because they do not get the emotional response they are looking forģ. That makes them want to highlight the 'wrongness' in their lives because it makes them feel better to know someone else is feeling bad.Ģ. Try to understand where their negativity is coming from- most likely it is due to their own unhappiness. So what are some tips for dealing with these types of people?ġ. This led me to the decision to discontinue watching the news, I figure if something bad enough is happening I will hear about it from my family and friends and can protect myself that way. I think it gives me strength whereas stories about horrific things (like watching the planes crash into the world trade towers 187 times in 1 hours) leaves me sad and depressed. I am a sucker for stories about people surviving turmoil and working through difficult situations. Was there really not enough good news to show or was it that people weren't watching the show? I am not sure- but either way I think that is very sad. In fact, when I lived in Clearwater Florida there was a show on called 'The Good News in Tampa Bay' and it was cancelled after about three weeks. We are bombarded with media messages about all the bad things that are going on in the world. I believe that our culture has a lot to do with this. When these people are constantly voicing their worries, it is often emotionally draining and can sometimes leave you depressed because it is difficult to remain positive in the light of so much negativity. I mean if these 5 people spent the same amount of time thinking that it wouldn't rain then they would probably have been a little happier to be there. My response to all of them was 'well it's not raining now (and it never did) so let's just hope for the best and see what happens. But- that didn't stop at least 5 of the people to call me and say well what if it rains, and it looks like it is going to rain. We hoped and prayed that it was going to rain. The group of 40+ students did a lot of work to plan the event and unfortunately there was a good chance of rain. The event was to be held outside and its' mission was to raise awareness about how alcohol almost always negatively impacts sexual health decisions.

I was the coordinator for event I worked on with a group of students at BU, where I am the wellness coordinator. Obviously this doesn't always happen, but I firmly believe that I focus on the positives rather than the negatives that these memories will stick in my head. The last few years I have really been trying to recognize the good that happens to me and become more mindful of when things go as I plan. Tonight I had several experiences with these types of people.

If you see them walking towards you raise your finger like you forgot something and do a 180.avoiding these people can be the first step in helping yourself with your feelings of stress. These people can only do one thing for us.stress us out. They have a way of zapping every ounce of happiness right out of you- leaving you feeling like a balloon with a pinhole in it that will never be fully inflated. As humans- most of us are programmed to help other people and to listen to their emotional needs, but occasionally you come across these people that you GIVE GIVE GIVE to and they just TAKE TAKE TAKE. These are the negative people in the world and they can easily suck you dry. You know who they are.the people in your immediate environment who are always thinking the worst, and having bad days, and complaining about everything that isn't going the way they expected.
